The following uplifting story is about Chucky, a 13-year-old Pomeranian that was out walking when he noticed something in the distance. He was so engrossed in what he was seeing that he failed to notice where he was stepping and fell into the pool. Chucky’s owners, Melissa and Byron Thanarayen, and their two other dogs, Jessie and Ponco, live in a house with a swimming pool outside. They’ve lived there for about five years and have never had a problem with the dogs or the pool. “My wife and I were on our way to a meeting.” We noticed Chucky’s head was moist when we returned. We looked all throughout the home for a place where he could have gotten wet, but we couldn’t locate anything.”
Finally, they walked to the security cameras to look at the footage. That’s when they discovered what was going on. Chucky had slipped and fallen into the pool. He tried desperately to get out by paddling his arms, but he couldn’t. He tried everything he could to get out of the pool, but he couldn’t get out. He was trying everything he could not to drown, but he was having a critical time. Chucky’s pal heard the noise and arrived to the rescue a few minutes later. Jessie, a 7-year-old rescued black Staffordshire, came to help the dog. She dashed to the pool’s edge, where Chucky was, and did everything she could to save him.
She was at a loss for what to do at first, but she soon came up with a solution. She would get him to swim to the pool’s edge, where she would try to grab him with her mouth and pull him out. Jessie attempted multiple times, but Chucky slipped from her grasp each time. She, on the other hand, never gave up. She didn’t get a decent grip on him and pull him out of the water until 34 minutes had passed.
As difficult as it is to see Chucky struggle to swim and keep his head above water, it is incredibly amazing to see his friend, Jessie, pull him out of the pool and save him. “Jessie is a hero to us!” We adopted her five years ago from the Boksburg SPCA. It’s incredible how she progressed from being rescued to rescuing others.” The dogs are doing well, according to Melissa and Byron. Jessie had a wonderful rescue, and her little pal Chucky is now happy playing and running around thanks to her!
